Accession subtype: turf; Cultivar description: Sylvia belongs to the strong creeping red festuces Festuca rubra ssp. rubra characterised by long rhizomes. The chromosome number is 2n=8x=56.The leaf sheath shows medium anthocyanin colouring at the base. The flag leaf is medium long, of medium width. The straw is medium long - long. The time of heading is medium early.Sylvia forms a rather dense turf. The leaves are fairly fine, of medium green colour.Sylvia shows a clear improvement over the old variety Reptans in turf characteristics such as shoot density and general impression. At the same time it has retained a good seed yield capasity, almost at the same level as that of Reptans.; Cultivar subtype: TURF;8X
